Inspired by games like 112 Operator, ProtectEU puts you in charge of coordinating emergency responses across the European Union. Every decision matters—can you handle the pressure?
About the Game (Short Description)
ProtectEU is a real-time strategy game where you lead the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM), responding to waves of emergencies across Europe while managing time, budget, and resources.
Full Description
In ProtectEU, you take on the role of the leader of the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM), coordinating responses to crises across the continent.
Each in-game year brings new waves of emergencies, from natural disasters to large-scale incidents. Your job is to deploy the right units, such as medical or military teams, while carefully managing your limited budget. Every action costs money, and poor planning could leave you unable to respond when it matters most.
To stay ahead, you can participate in optional minigames, such as civic activities, to earn extra funds. However, time spent there reduces the time available for handling emergencies.
As you progress, the game follows a timeline from the creation of the EUCPM to the present day, incorporating events inspired by real-world situations. At the end of each year, you can invest your remaining budget into upgrades, unlocking new abilities and improving your response capabilities for future challenges.
Key Features
- Real-time emergency management gameplay
- Multiple unit types (medical, military, and more)
- Strategic resource and budget management

- Events inspired by real European crises
More info about the game
This game was made initially for the ,,Gamers in action for democracy" game jam hosted by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania and it was one of the winners. The game was then presented to the European Parliament Liaison Office in Romania and the game dev studios Amber and AMC in Bucharest, who provided feedback for improvement, which was then implemented in a period of one month, concluding with a presentation at the European Parliament in Bruxelles.
